Bad Medicine: Plan B for 15-Year-Olds

image

The morning after pill “Plan B One Step” has been in the making for at least 13 years. I remember research about it being presented back in my medical school years.

It took this many years but the progressive agenda has succeeded in its goal. As of this month, girls as young as 15 can walk into a pharmacy and grab a Plan B off the aisle without a prescription.

A progressive judge has pushed the FDA into approving this non-solution to a moral problem, and parents don’t even have to know about it… until the side effects and potentially dangerous complications of Plan B will affect their daughters.

One can consult a site like drugs.com for non-medical professionals, and see some of the adverse effects of this pill that contains a hefty dose of a synthetic reproductive hormone which will prevent implantation of a fertilized egg. We are talking about an abortifacient pill, one that effectively gets rid of the product of conception.

The moral argument will not do for the progressives.

How about a medical argument?

There is a reason why hormonal contraceptive pills require a prescription normally. There is a reason why hormone replacement therapy after menopause is controversial. That reason has to do with increased mortality in certain situations and medical conditions.

Now levonorgestrel will be available to all comers after age 15 over-the-counter. My main concern is with young women at risk for thromboembolic events, like those who have clotting disorders and are not yet diagnosed, and who possibly engage in other behaviors like smoking. They may form a clot after taking Plan B and suffer a potentially deadly pulmonary embolus.

What happened to the Hippocratic Oath which says “do no harm” first when treating a patient?

Our society is so blinded by Satan that it will bypass even earthly reason in excusing sin.

Christians who hold to biblical truth are forbidden from engaging in sexual immorality af any kind. That includes premarital sex and sexual experimentation. God has ordained sex only for marriage, and any attempt to remove it from marriage is a SIN.

Plan B does not solve a problem. It creates and sustains a moral problem and it potentially may cause serious harm to young women’s health.

Progressives will disagree as usual.

  1. Thanks D.I.T. for this sound ~medical~ argument! The irony of this is that the “Reproductive Rights” movement is being promoted in “women’s health” magazines, when in actuality “reproductive rights” have nothing to do with women’s health nor “rights”…unless we’re considering the “right” to endanger young women’s health or the “right” to endanger children’s lives. I know it sounds harsh, but it’s frustrating to see such things argued under the premise of “her health” and “my rights”….if someone is going to fight for a cause, I wish he/she would be honest about what they are fighting for.

    • Good points, Nir. Planned Parenthood is a master at using these tactics. They will advertise women’s health issues when really, the underlying business is abortion. So, upsetting.

    • I’ve been following this story… It’s all over Facebook and Christian radio… This guy Weinstein is out of control and Obama is finally showing his anti Christic colors.

      • When I see this (and all the rest of the evil changes) I can only think of one thing: the fall of Jerusalem in the days of Jeremiah happened the same way. Unless we are having a nation wide”revival”, we will fall here the same way. I guess the ball is in our (Church’s) court.

  2. How tragic that our nation has sunk so low in the slime pit that in an attempt to be p.c. – young girl and boys are being taught that its okay to have sex – we gotcha covered – just in case, we gotta Plan B.

We cannot teach our young people about the LORD, they cannot read the Bible or pray in schools. Gotta remove the offensive crosses and the ten commandments. No way can we share our faith in the military; but Plan B, now that’s acceptable.

Heard it said, “it takes a village to raise a child” – guess the village [read government] is speaking louder today than most moms and dads.

  3. Reblogged this on Wings of the Wind and commented:
Delight knows the truth. Many don’t. It doesn’t surprise me that this pill will soon be on drugstore shelves. The simple commandment “Thou Shalt Not Kill” has been removed from our courthouse walls. How can God bless a nation that has turned its back on Him?
