My social media feeds have been inundated this past month with videos of Christian carols by the band Pentatonix. The first time I saw the Pentatonix video of the carol song “Mary, Did You Know” I was impressed by the vocal talent in the production, but something didn’t seem right. They did not strike me as portraying the image of the average evangelical Christian artist. It is almost unheard for a Christian artist to be promoted on the world’s stage like this.
Well, thank God for the common grace of Google.
While at least one member of the band publicly claims to be a Christian, two other members are openly gay. Furthermore the band is active in promoting the LGBTQ agenda. All this at the same time as taking advantage of the evangelical Christian market which may be their top target in selling albums.
But, hey, it’s a free country and anyone can do what they want as long as they do not break the law and/or hurt others, as the old progressive principle holds. Delight in Truth does not have a problem with Pentatonix and their rebellion against the moral code of Scripture, as much as with the Evangelical crowd which claims to be under the authority of Scripture and who loves Pentatonix.
Dear Christians, if you find the Word of God as inspired and authoritative, please stop buying, promoting, liking, posting, and applauding these Pentatonix videos. Would you listen daily to an openly gay pastor who promotes the LGBTQ lifestyle and preaches “really good?” If no, then why promote Pentatonix?
The false gospel of acceptance has made its way into the church via music and artistic expression, and now we are reaping the consequences. Scripture is being challenged and disregarded on the issue of sexual morality, and especially homosexuality. Large churches like the Presbyterian Church USA and Evangelical Lutheran Church have blown up over the issue, and the Anglican Church (80 million members) is next.
As time goes by, more and more churches will concede and accept into membership and even ordain those who identify with and practice the LGBTQ lifestyle in open rebellion to Scripture. On the other hand it has to be this way. As we get closer to the Second Coming of Christ the warning given by apostle Peter stands true: “that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.”
We must stand true to Scripture. We must stand with those who hold it as authoritative, and not with those who rebel against.

I’m a teen and I don’t listen to the Pentatonix band. When I see/ read comments about – “a Christian song, is a Christian song who cares about the authors? It’s about the message. . . ” WHAT? That makes no sense, think about it; what if God was a bad, evil spirit and then He became “holy,” and He started telling these awesome, holy, loving parables; -some people would accept that, that’s like accepting a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The Bible mentions homosexuality a handful of times, but mentions divorce three times as many. I never see anyone openly discouraging Christians from enjoying the art of divorced people. It’s hypocritical and less about the homosexuality and more about the pointedness of an attack on an easy target. Shame on you.
How many times should the Bible say that something is a sin before accepting it as such? Once? Twice? A handful of times?
And I am not promoting any divorced pastors. BTW, there is a case for biblical divorce that Jesus mentions in Matt 19, if you care to study.

Thank you so much for sharing this. They have extraordinary voices that caught my attention but I could sense in my spirit that something was not right and now I know why. The Bible is the manual period. The truth does not change. The Bible says that in the last days deceiving would be so strong that God will have to shorten the days, otherwise everyone would end up being deceived. Be careful with what you listen to.

Pentatonix is not preaching the gospel, or asking us to join the lgbtq movement. They are singing songs we all know and love, and struggling with sin as we all do. While the Bible is clear that homosexuality is a sin, so is divorce, lying, cheating, and so on. The Bible also says that he who is without sin can cast the first stone. So I will enjoy their music which causes me to worship- and let God deal with their sin.

I would have a difficult time enjoying these lyrics and especially finding a way to worship God through them. I can, however, pray for this poor lost soul named Mitch.
Beautiful music if a person’s heart could somehow separate the melody from the lyrics. But how can a Christian embrace both the teaching of Ephesians 5:19 and the lyrics of such songs? Words have meaning. Joyously listening to a song amplifies words and instills them into a person’s heart forever, either for good, or for evil. A lyricist can become a friend who influences our every day.
These are not words of faith in God, and there doesn’t seem to be the slightest hint of repentance. They are dark words of distrust. Broken hallelujahs are not hallelujahs at all. Pray for poor Mitch!

Ok people we got to end this LGBTQ debate. Here’s my thoughts on the matter. While I do enjoy Pentanoix as artists and musicians I don’t agree with their stance on LGBTQ. I grew up in a house where my dad was a minister and my mom is a gospel singer. The way we were taught about people who are LGBTQ is this. We can love the person hate the sin. Translation? We can still enjoy music by people who are openly gay/lesbian/trans while not agreeing with their lifestyle. Would I play Pentanoix is the church? No. But as Christians we can support their music while disagreeing with their lifestyle. Its similar for Christians (such as myself) that listen to Main stream Rock music. we support the band not their lifestyle.

I wouldn’t allow this person to teach me as a preacher would, but I would allow them to read scripture and I would listen, because it’s still scripture. Pentatonix is merely singing already established, traditional songs, they aren’t changing the meaning of the songs.
Paul tells us that we should judge our Christian brothers, and not to even eat with those who are engaging in habitual sin. And of all the things that he warns gentiles about, when they were worried about keeping the law, he told them only two things, don’t eat meat you know has been sacrificed to idols and STAY AWAY FROM SEXUAL SIN. I think that is pretty clear, and no one is being judgmental, we should tell these people, in hopes of saving them from hell.. To ignore the sin and just love the sinner will not get them into heaven.

Then I noticed one of them looked like a girl…..maybe? I couldn’t tell but then I realized she was probably a girl dressed manly with s man’s hairstyle. So….no more Pentatonix. I was really disappointed. And what about the weird words to Broken Hallelujah? Not.

what? carols have been used over the years to celebrate the birth of Christ. Christmas is the birthday of Jesus and was NOT founded by “lucifer’s camp.” Just because the plants that represent Christmas nowadays doesn’t mean anything. Now would you mind telling me where in the Bible it talks about being gay being a sin? Leviticus 18:22 perhaps? Well my dear friends, the direct translation from Hebrew is “And with male you shall not lie lyings woman.” The word “lyings” is only ever seen once more in Genesis 49:4 and translates to incest. I can already hear ignorant people beginning to argue “What about Sodom & Gomorrah?! 1 Corinthians 6:9 and 1 Timothy 1:9-11?! Matthew 19:4 ?! ” Well, first of all Sodom and Gomorrah is about lack of hospitality and violence towards the visitors, 1 Corinthians 6:9. 1 Timothy 1:9-11 at the time that this was written the word “homosexuality” wasn’t even around instead it would be the greek word arsenokoitai which refers to prostitution meaning that the stuff against homosexuality was likely because of the translator(s) prejudices. As for Matthew 19:4 which is often used against transgender, genderfluid, and non-binary people (whom are all valid), however in verse 12 Jesus says, “For there are eunuchs who were born that way, and there are eunuchs who have been made eunuchs by others—and there are those who choose to live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.” this shows that he is aware of gender diversity and even embraces it. Homosexuality alters ones entire life on a universal level. Something as small as sex. A person can’t decide the life they want? I would trash-can that bad offer: You can have sex with an anus, risk contracting diseases, produce no children, feel intrinsic shame because you KNOW its contrary to nature and wrong, settle for a poor quality life, or you can just decide to be heterosexual. Easy. Sexual expression is a small component in a big life or a big thing in a small life. Just asking for a lot of problems.

Dear Sir, your statement concerning the singing group Pentatonic is filled with Biblical truth. In the last days false teachers and prophets will come leading many astray. Either these folks don’t know their Bibles or they are actively trying to undermine the strength of God’s moral commandments. We are to share the Gospel in love. Many will allow themselves to be deceived. I pray for the repentance of each member of Pentatonic. May they come to Christ in true repentance and receive the wondrous salvation He offers.
I can personally feel the spirit of God in Pentatonix’s rendition of “Hallelujah” and traditional Christian songs, so, I therefore “was” a follower of their music, rather than their lifestyle. That being said, in my opinion, they chose to do secular anti-Christain songs like “Imagine” in order to avoid being categorized as a Christain group, in which I find reprehensible, selling out in order to be accepted by the music industry. I wouldn’t want to stand before God when I die and try to explain why I chose to ditch him in support of my personal agenda.

I would include same sex relationships as sexual immorality, yes. I was drawn to this article because I wanted to know if the music group was Christian. Other sources say that all members are open about their faiths. I also don’t think that a gay person couldn’t be a Christian. Perhaps a misguided one, but one can live in sin and still know the Lord, right?

Chloe – I think repentance is probably the best choice for someone in that spiritual condition. The Lord is merciful toward those with a malleable heart!

Doesn’t the Scripture teach you not to judge others? We are all children of God. If you don’t choose to listen to their music or be a fan, then so be it, but you’re wrong for trying to preach to others that there’s something wrong with them simply because their lifestyles aren’t something you understand or can relate to. I could care less if they’re gay, bi, trans, straight, etc…it’s their business not yours!

If Christians do not practice and teach righteous judgment then who will save souls from the evil that exists in the world? Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. I will listen to artists who believe what they sing. Maybe God will use the words they sing to touch their hearts. Makes mesad, tho- very talented but the heart is what matters to me. Lots of others to listen to.
